Deformation-Driven Processing of CNTs/PEEK Composites towards Wear and Tribology Applications

چکیده
Despite wide applications in mechanical transmission components, sparked with extraordinary wear resistance, polymeric composites face the challenges of reinforcement agglomeration. In this work, deformation-driven processing was proposed to prepare carbon nanotube (CNTs)-reinforced poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) matrix enhancement resistance. Severe plastic deformation contributed homogeneous dispersion reinforcements without undesirable Low frictional heat input ensured structural integrity CNTs. The coefficient friction and rate 3.0 wt.% CNTs/PEEK were, respectively, 7.32% 6.71% lower than those pure PEEK. This strategy provides a high-efficiency approach preparing high wear-resistance composites, attributed its self-heating, low-cost, high-performance characteristics.

Ceramic Composites of 3Y-TZP Doped With CuO: Processing, microstructure and tribology
In recent years, 3 mol% yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (3Y-TZP) doped with copper oxide has obtained increasing interest due to its enhanced superplasticity and good potential in tribological applications. In this work, the effect of addition of small amounts (0.8 mol%) of CuO on the sintering behaviour of 3Y-TZP was studied using a dilatometer and high temperature X-ray dif...
متن کاملTEM characterisation of near surface deformation resulting from lubricated sliding wear of aluminium alloy and composites
Aluminium alloy composites have been extensively investigated for use in tribo-contact applications, however little detailed literature exists on the sub-surface microstructural evolution as a result of lubricated sliding wear. In this study two un-reinforced alloys (2124 & 5056) and identical alloy composites, reinforced with 15vol.% MoSi2 intermetallic particles were produced by a powder meta...
متن کاملThree-body wear of different composites resins
Introduction: Low resistance of composite resins to abrasion is a primary concern in the application of these materials for posterior restorations which are prone to high occlusal loads. This study compared the wear resistance of three types of composites. Methods: In this laboratory experiment, five specimens of each of the three types of composites (z250, Heliomolar, Opallis) were prepared...
متن کاملTribology of Prosthetic Joints – Validation of Wear Simulation Methods
In hip and knee arthroplasty, loosening of prosthetic components is the principal reason for expensive and complicated reoperations. Loosening is believed to be caused mainly by tissue reactions to wear particles removed from ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene bearing surfaces. The tissue reactions, leading to bone loss, depend on the size and amount of the particles. Wear simulators are i...
متن کاملWear of Aged Dental Composites
Surface morphology and wear characteristics of five dental composites subjected to accelerated aging were investigated. Aging conditions caused degradation of the surface as evidenced by the formation of microcracks and the exposure and loss of filler particles. Wear parameters such as track width, transition load and mode of surface failure caused by single-pass sliding were influenced by agin...
